Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Here at SoPines UMC, we recognize that our youngest members are just beginning to learn about worship. Bridging the gap from nursery care to family worship, we offer KOW - Kids' Own Worship -  each Sunday at both of our services. Following the Children's Message, children pre-k through 5th grade, are invited to leave the sanctuary and head to the chapel for KOW. This time is intentionally structured as a worship service for children. Children will experience a kid friendly version of the adults’ sermon and sing praise songs. When the weather allows, children will end on the church playground. On communion Sundays, children will return to the sanctuary and are welcome to participate in our open communion table. 

At SoPines UMC, we believe that Sunday school should be a fun and safe place to learn about God's love for each child and all of the world. It is an essential time for learning and socializing. Classes run throughout the school year, but do not meet over summer break. The Sunday school curriculum incorporates games, lessons, songs, and crafts unique to each week’s learning goal. Our teachers are dedicated to sharing the love of God in a kid friendly way making Sunday school a great time of spiritual formation and growth. For children three years and under, the nursery is available.  Sunday school is open to all children and youth starting at four years old.  Classes meet between services from 10:15 - 10:55 each week. 

Nursery care is available every Sunday morning beginning at 8:45am and remains open until 12:15pm. Our team of care providers allows parents and guardians to focus on their own spiritual growth with the comfort and assurance that little ones are cared for in a safe and loving environment. 

We practice Safe Sanctuaries at SoPines UMC. We always need volunteers to be second adults in each of our Children and Youth Ministries. We are committed to the safety of our children, so all volunteers must under go a background check.
